MFNEC INC Vision

Moosomin First Nation Education Council ensures that all Moosomin First Nation nehiyawak students, their parents/guardians and their wahkohtowin participate in and contribute to an engaging and enjoyable educational journey that recognizes and celebrates their unique identity, language and culture.  This journey will support nehiyawak students to achieve the skills, knowledge and qualifications they need to achieve success in their community, the nation state of Canada and the wider world.  

When the vision is realized all Moosomin First Nation Students will: 

  • Have their identity, language and culture valued and included in teaching in learning in ways that support hem to engage and achieve success.  
  • Know their potential and feel support to set goals and take actions to enjoy success.  
  • Have experience teaching and learning that is relevant, engaging, rewarding and positive.  
  • Have gained the skills, knowledge and qualifications they need to achieve success in their community, the nation state of Canada and the wider world. 

Our Mission

Moosomin First Nation Education Council’s Mission is to provide leadership, innovation and the successful advancement our Nation through the power of education.  We strive to create a system that sends out young leaders who have achieved in all areas of learning: who are prepared for the challenges of this changing world: and are strong in the knowledge of nehiyawak ways of knowing. 

Owen Bannerman

I would like to welcome back students and staff to the 2026-2027 School Year.  My name is Mr. Bannerman and am privileged to be back as the Principal of Chief Moosomin School. I look forward to meeting new students and seeing familiar faces in the fall term.

On behalf of all our staff I invite all parents and guardians to come visit us at school.  Engaging in your child’s education is one of the most important things you can do for them.

I look forward to another year of learning with all the programs and activities we have planned.

Our Council works diligently to provide quality educational opportunities that empower students to reach their fullest potential.  We believe in creating safe, inclusive, and supportive environments where every learner feels valued and inspired to succeed.  By blending strong academic standards with cultural knowledge and community values, we prepare our students for both lifelong learning and leadership.
